Helga Holler-Busch
Helga Holler-Busch was raised in Prince George. She fell in love at 5
years old, when her parents enrolled her with Shadow Martial Arts. In
2022, she joined Family Taekwondo and started competing. In 2023,
Helga tested for her 1st dan in Hapkido with Shadow Martial Arts. The
following year she tested for her 1st dan black belt with Family
Taekwondo and graduated from the Forestry program at UNBC.
Helga competes provincially and nationally, with the objective of
earning a place on team Canada in 2027. In 2025, Helga became the
female western power breaking champion. She received a bronze medal at
Nationals in the same year, and was invited to team Canada try-outs.
This fall, she will attend her first international competition in
Benidorm, Spain, where she will compete in patterns, sparring, and
power breaking.
Competition has become an important part of Helga’s martial arts
practice, but her main goal is to live a life befitting of a martial
artist and to never stop improving her skills. Helga loves to teach
both Hapkido and Taekwondo, in any location or weather! Outside of
training and teaching, you can find her tending her garden, hiking,
and writing the occasional scrap of poetry.
Message from the Society: Helga your commitment to Taekwon-Do, combined with your leadership and character, makes you an inspiration to young athletes and those around you.
